Grace’s Co-op: Youth Run Nola
Youth Run NOLA is an after-school, youth development program for middle and high school students across the Greater New Orleans region. Participants are guided by teacher-coaches at Grace’s school-based chapters and volunteer running buddies at monthly events. Twice a week after school, students arrive at their school running sites prepared for a demanding, objective-aligned practice, replete with a continuing dialogue about and application of life skills, goal-setting, and leadership. Once a month, from September to April, students participate in a community race that exposes them to a new space and community in the city. Participants conclude the season by running the Fall & Spring Crescent City Classic, and a subset complete the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.

8 Week Enrichment Co-op. Grace has facilitated a teaching cooperative (co-op).The purpose of co-op is to give children with similar values a place to share, as peers, in a supplemental educational experience. Co-op is not a full curriculum and should only be used to reinforce things the kids are, or will be, learning in their homeschool. Subjects offered vary each semester based on the expected size of the class, interest of the current students and skills and interest of the members willing to volunteer their time and talents to teach. Subjects in the past have included things like art, biology—dissection, creative writing, history, etc. Subjects will be announced before co-op starts. Some classes may require the students participation in an end-of-session presentation such as the Science Fair, or Junior Achievement.
